ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION

Performs diagnostic imaging procedures using medical imaging equipment to produce images of tissues, organs, bones, and vessels. Takes rotational call.

INTERACTION

Primarily Interacts with: administration, physicians, employees, clinical and non-clinical departments, patients, visitors, vendors and volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operate radiology equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by the physicians and perform routine diagnostic procedures to facilitate the highest quality of patient care.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
  • Assure radiographic and all equipment necessary for radiographic procedures is in optimal condition.
  • Contact equipment service companies when necessary for repair.
  • Maintain radiographic services in accordance with standards established by the hospital and with State and Federal standards, which may apply.
  • Receive requests and performs secretarial duties in absence of department secretary.
  • Prepare radiographic room or other equipment (portable, C.T.). Gather supplies for procedures.
  • File reports and distribute copies of reports to proper destination, as requested.
  • Provide exemplary customer service.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
  • Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives and maintain good employee relations, inter-departmental objectives and infection control policies.
  • Cordially demonstrate timeliness and professionalism in appearance, communications, and actions during all interactions and with all individuals and entities.
  • Solve practical problems, dealing with a variety of issues, and interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

ABILITY TO USE EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS, MACHINES: Computer, telephone, facsimile machine, copier, scanner, printer, calculator and other standard office equipment. Medical Radiology Imaging Equipment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Education:

  • Highschool diploma required
  • ARRT Licensure required; CT, MRI or Mammography licensure preferred
  • Licensure through Texas Medical Board required
  • Basic Life Support Certification

Experience:

  • One year experience in radiology preferred.
  • CT or Mammography experience preferred.

  • General computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

  • Must be able to work independently, and flexibly, and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
