Position: Business Analyst, Business Control & Risk Management

As a Business Analyst within the Business Control & Risk Management team, you will operate within the First Line of Defense. Your primary responsibility is to assist in driving effective and consistent business line execution against the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. You'll identify and assess key risks and control effectiveness across the assigned business line, ensuring adherence to applicable risk frameworks, corporate policies, and standards. You'll also support various risk initiatives, including risk assessments, KRI/KPI development, monitoring, and issue remediation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Risk Management and Control:
• Conduct reviews and investigations for new clients and refresh processes, including online and batch sanctioned hits, PEPs, RCAs, and adverse media hits.
• Perform quality assurance on false positives and communicate deficiencies.
• Manage the PEP declassification and trigger event processes.
• Escalate necessary hits/alerts to Compliance 2LOD.
• Compliance and Procedures:
• Assist in designing and enhancing internal procedures and controls to monitor regulatory risk.
• Conduct risk assessments on business and operational processes, procedures, and policies.
• Plan, gather documentation, and execute responses to audits, regulatory exams, compliance testing, and self-identified issues.
• Maintain quality service by executing controls, interpreting results, and escalating issues as needed.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
• Maintain rapport with internal stakeholders, including the Front Office, Compliance, IT & Operations, and other functional stakeholders.
• Perform research and analyze relevant compliance-related information to recommend necessary procedural/control changes.
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Project Support:
• Assist with planning and implementing regulatory projects.
• Review existing compliance controls for regulatory updates and perform necessary gap analysis.
• Support management in day-to-day compliance efforts with laws, rules, regulations, and related policies.
• Assist with business and departmental meetings, producing action points and ensuring follow-up.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience:
• 1-3 years of experience in Compliance, Operations, or a similar function, preferably in financial services.
• Skills and Competencies:
• Ability to analyze risk and provide recommendations for minimizing risk.
• Willingness to learn the operations of a financial markets business within a global bank.
• Familiarity with regulations affecting a Corporate and Investment Banking business.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to foster internal relationships.
• Flexibility to change direction as project demands dictate.
• Effective communication skills to summarize and articulate issues and document findings.
• Ability to interpret, analyze, and apply data/information.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
