GPASS is Hiring a Housing Counselor Near Philadelphia, PA

The Greater Philadelphia Asian Social Service Center (GPASS) is a nonprofit organization based in the Greater Philadelphia area. The organization is dedicated to providing assistance to residents citywide, bridging cultural and language gaps, connecting people with needed resources and information, and strengthening families and communities.

Department: Department of Housing

Job Title: Housing Counselor

Full-Time / On-site

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vacation Days, Holidays and Sick Time.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Meets individually with clients to provide financial coaching and housing counseling, using HUD’s Housing

Counseling Rules and Regulations as a guide.

· In accordance with the National Industry Standards for Home Ownership Counseling, performs homebuyer client

intake, counseling, and follow-up on spending plan, credit, savings, foreclosure, rental, re-entry housing assistance,

and home purchase and financing process.

· Correct timely client tracking after complete session with client by input Rx-Office database for monthly billing.

· Participates in local area community outreach (i.e., presentations, fairs, etc.,)

· Acquires and maintains up-date training with house counseling certification.

· Coordinates and conducts monthly homebuyer education workshops with needed.

· Develops referral sources by building relationships with lenders, realtors and others.

· Assists with and/or initiate marketing activities that will fulfill our advertising goals for program services.

· Actively participates in monthly housing meetings to improve the effectiveness housing counseling services.

Prepare in advance; provide feedback and suggestions related to improvements as needed or asked.

· Assists with establishing and updating processes for the delivery of counseling services.

· Reviews and comply with the terms and requirements of contracts and agreements.

· Attends DHCD and PHFA training as required.

· Adhere to GPASS policies and protocols.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • HUD Certified or must acquire required certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Min 1 year of Housing/counseling related experience.
  • Knowledge of government housing programs and resources preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to conduct complicated assessments and provide individualized counseling services required.
  • Fluency in English and another language, preferably Spanish, Creole or any Asian language preferred.
  • Previous experience with Diverse Communities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
