We are seeking a skilled Controller to join our team and oversee all financial aspects of our construction projects. The Controller will play a key role in managing financial operations, implementing financial strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and possess strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. **Qualifications:**
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting with a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Comprehensive technical and functional knowledge of accounting processes including AR, AP, bank reconciliations, cash management, general ledger, financial preparation, and review.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Experience in implementing process improvements.
- Understanding of construction law and lien processes is important.
- Proficiency in Viewpoint Vista software is required.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel is required.
**Responsibilities:**
- Oversee the full cycle of month-end, quarterly, and year-end close activities for a portfolio of companies.
- Review income statements, balance sheets, and cash account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.
- Direct financial affairs and prepare financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for management guidance.
- Develop and enforce financial plans, policies, and accounting practices, including the maintenance of fiscal records and preparation of financial reports.
- Supervise general accounting, project accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.
- Ensure corporate tax compliance by accurately and timely completing all corporate tax returns, leveraging favorable tax codes.
- Ensure accounting practices comply with relevant accounting standards, state and federal regulations, and company values and practices.
- Analyze work-in-progress (WIP) and profitability to optimize project performance.
- Create and process payroll on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
- Administer 401(k) and Health Insurance programs.
- Supervise PTO tracking systems.
