Governors America Corporation is Hiring an Inspector I and Calibration Technician Near Agawam, MA

SUMMARY

The role of the Inspector I / Calibration Technician is to drive a culture of Quality with team members in the Quality department across all areas within the company. They are responsible for performing general inspection on electronic/mechanical components, subassemblies, and final product to verify conformance to specifications.

They are responsible for maintaining the tool and asset program to control calibrated equipment used throughout the facility in compliance with ISO/AS regulations and established procedures. They are responsible for maintaining the Quality program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products by performing the duties identified below. The individual is a detail oriented, organized, dependable team player within GAC. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned as required.

· Calibration: responsible to maintain and operate of the calibration system.

o Assign and control issuance of calibration, inspection, and test equipment.

o Assist in controlling maintenance of equipment.

o Assist in recalling and calibrating equipment.

o Write calibration procedures.

o Assist in traceability to National Standards.

o Provide training and supervision relating to the proper use of calibration equipment.

· Use basic measurement skills and equipment such as ruler, caliper, micrometer, microscope, and multimeter.

· Create and roll-out necessary process documentation (e.g. Standard Work Instructions)

· Inspection:

o Performs inspections and sets inspection specifications of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products.

o Assists in developing quality control policies and evaluates product limitations.

o Be able to identify component types and values as well as placement.

o Perform visual inspection of general product workmanship.

o Use basic blueprint reading skills to interpret drawings and documents.

o Inspector must be able to perform basic first piece setup verification on various machines such as VCD, SMT, and CNC in accordance with supplied process routers.

· Use of computer is required to access documents, enter data into Quality system, Word documents, databases, MRP/ERP system and other items as needed.

· Collect and review in-process quality data as needed.

· Some filing of documentation is also required.

· Promote the use of industry preferred techniques for continuous improvement of products and processes. For example, Six-Sigma and Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing).

· Aid in Scrap Reduction efforts.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • ISO9001 and AS9100 (or equivalent) experience preferred.
  • Knowledge in applicable analytical software and Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
  • Additional software application knowledge, such as statistical analysis tools, a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
