The Role
Route Fifty, a leading publication covering news and trends in state and local government across the U.S., is seeking a sharp, organized editor to join our team as a Managing Editor.
Working closely with the Executive Editor, this person will oversee the publication’s daily news operation serving city, county, and state government officials and those looking to understand the work they do. We’re seeking someone to manage our efforts to provide smart, indispensable, accessible and timely coverage. That involves writing, editing articles written by our team of reporters and by external contributors, and coordinating production of the articles, ebooks and special reports that result from it. In this role, you will report directly to the Executive Editor.
Route Fifty produces award-winning journalism through its newsletters, website and live events. We cover news, trends and emerging issues nationwide in the state and local government arena, as well as developments at the federal level that affect the nation’s states and localities. Our audience includes state and local government leaders, decision-makers and staff. Route Fifty is a GovExec publication.

The compensation range for this role is $85,000 to $110,000 per year.
