Title One Preschool Teacher

POSITION PURPOSE: Instructs children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

• Be a positive role model for all students.
• Creates a classroom environment that is a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
• Uses curriculum maps, and other district resources to prepare lessons, considering factors, such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels, learning styles, and physical limitations of students.
• Utilizes classroom and corporation materials, resources and technology that enhance instruction.
• Plans lessons that are easily identifiable, focused, and clear; reinforce lessons with additional instruction, learning activities, and appropriate assessments.
• Uses assessment data to plan lessons and drive instruction aligned to Indiana state standards.
• Develops a repertoire of teaching strategies to reach all learners.
• Makes modifications in lessons based on student needs.
• Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, emotional, cognitive, academic, and motor skills.
• Leads classroom activities including circle time, shack time, activity centers, toilet needs, arrival/dismissal routines.
• Assess progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
• Maintains accurate records regarding student information, grades, report cards, test data, and attendance as required by administration.
• Discusses student’s progress with parents and provides frequent progress notes.
• Conducts weekly home visits and/or school connect activities.
• Maintains confidentiality of students/ families
• Collaborates with teaching colleagues and administrators on best practices in teaching and learning.
• Completes necessary paperwork such as summary sheets, transportation forms, etc.
• Coordinates with transportation/bus drivers as needed.
• Supervises students in hallways, cafeteria, and other areas of the building.
• Serves on committees as assigned by administration.
• Adheres to School Board policies, Corporation policies and procedures, and building guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Indiana Teacher’s License with Early Childhood Education: P - 3 licensure
• CPR certification required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students, parents, and school staff.
• Skills in human relations.
• Ability to plan and organize; good work habits.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety or variables in situations requiring decision making.

WORK CALENDAR: School year - 184 days per year; 40 hours per week

SALARY: Teaching Contract – 184 days
