Gorge Academy is Hiring a Day Program School Director/Special Education Teacher Near Vancouver, WA

We are recruiting for a Director/Teacher to serve Gorge Academy, our day school program in White Salmon, WA. This position is full time, 215 days. This position is open until filled with applications submitted by April 29, 2024, receiving first consideration. General Responsibilities:Reporting directly to the Specialized Services Birth to 21 Executive Director, the Day School Program Director/Teacher provides educational leadership and direction for school district special education programs and serves as the Special Education Teacher for the Day School Program.Salary:The full range for this position is $107,939.26 - $131,324.64. Offers are made at the entry level of the range.Essential Functions/Other FunctionsEssential Functions:
  1. Use data, research and best practices to design and lead special education programs and services that provide special education students with a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.
  2. Coordinate programs and services to identify, assess, place and serve eligible students special education services and ensure student progress.
  3. Assign, supervise, evaluate and develop special education staff to support the educational needs of special education students.
  4. Build and maintain productive relationships and strong partnerships with families, school district staff, community agencies; and local, state and federal government entities.
  5. Manage the day-to-day special education program operations for the Special Education ESA member districts to maximize resources and assure a safe, efficient and effective learning environment for students and staff.
  6. Assure compliance with all federal, state, agency and school district laws, rules, regulations and procedures that govern students with disabilities.
  7. Serve as the Special Education Teacher for the Day School Program.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & SkillsMinimum Qualifications:
  1. Hold a Washington state administrative credential or be enrolled in an administrative credential program.
  2. Hold or eligible to hold a valid Washington teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement.
  3. Masters degree.
  4. Three years teaching or other certificated experience (e.g., school psychologist, speech pathologist, physical therapist).
  5. Administrative experience serving special education populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. One year of educational leadership experience that includes employee supervision and evaluation.
  2. Experience designing curriculum and instructional strategies for special education populations.
  3. Experience delivering professional development to teachers and support staff.
Working Conditions/Employment RequirementsWorking Conditions:
  1. School building work setting, office environment.
  2. Travel to assigned districts in ESD 112 Special Education ESA service region.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
