Goosetown Communications is Hiring an Assistant Facilities Manager - Congers, NY Near Congers, NY

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Assistant Facilities Manager is charged with maintaining our company facilities and grounds for all office locations to ensure we follow safety and legal requirements in coordination with the goals and objectives of Goosetown Communications. The goal of this position is to ensure our facilities and properties, either owned or leased, are well-maintained and managed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the day-to-day operations of the facilities and grounds are carried out in a manner consistent with Goosetown policies and management directives.
  • Support the facilities manager with the maintenance of janitorial, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, HVAC, and any other items required within the scope of respective sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety, environment, and risk management policies and procedures in conjunction with the facilities manager.
  • Routinely inspect buildings to determine the need for repairs and conduct repairs as needed. This includes exterior/interior of the building, roof, HVAC systems, exterior/interior lighting, painting, scraping, power washing, preventative maintenance inspections, electrical repairs and installations, lawn, tree limb removal, snow plowing, shoveling, and cleaning/restocking materials and supplies as needed.
  • Address complaints/requests promptly.
  • Conduct performance checks on all machines and equipment.
  • Ensure all fluids, chemicals, etc. are stored in the appropriate containers and fire-safe cabinets. Keep all MSDS sheets up to date on a digital record.
  • Ensure emergency exits and electrical breaker boxes are not blocked, are properly labeled, and are up to code, all emergency lighting is operational, and proper evacuation policies and procedures are posted.
  • Able and willing to travel to various locations to pick up/deliver items as needed.
  • Compile information necessary to ensure all site-specific documentation and reports are completed accurately and on time, i.e., Property Information Book, Site Operating Manual, Janitorial Log, Vendor Certificates of Insurance, Annual Property Conditions, MSDS sheets, Generator Log, and other reports and documentation as required.
  • Legally operate company-owned vehicles, truck/trailer combination, and snowplow equipment.
  • Travel to Congers, NY, Bloomfield, CT, Guilford, CT, and other sites as required located in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Experience and Skill Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience in facility management.
  • Experience in maintenance, construction, engineering, and all facets of property operation and building management (preferred).
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools.
  • Able and willing to travel to various locations in the tri-state area.
  • Ability to work independently and as an active member of a team.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as communication will be required.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.

Education/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate degree in facility management or relevant field. (Preferred)
  • Relevant professional qualifications. (e.g., CFM, OSHA) (Preferred)
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM), International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), and other Engineering, Business, or technical training or certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

  • Monday Friday 8 am-5:00 pm.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment and out in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and equipment required to perform responsibilities effectively.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others and exchange accurate information, operate office equipment, operate handheld tools, sit, or stand for long periods, travel far distances, work outside in inclement weather, lift 50 pounds, bend, squat, and extend hands and arms in any direction.
