General Description:

As an Environmental Technician, you will gain hands-on experience contributing to sustaining environmental compliance in one of Goodyear's Chemical manufacturing plants. Goodyear Chemical is a division of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company which manufactures and markets rubber-related chemicals for various applications. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Conduct environmental inspections
• Collect samples (e.g., soil, wastewater, air)
• Perform waste handling and waste management activities
• Conduct audits (e.g., RCRA, SPCC, TPDES)
• Collect data, keep records and develop reports
• Clean and maintain a safe work environment
• Abide by standard work procedures and job safety standards, including required use of PPE
• Perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods of time, which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights and/or confined spaces when applicable
• Adhere to Goodyear's attendance policy
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Understand and follow all instructions, both orally and in writing

Basic Qualifications:

• HS Diploma/GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Required to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, squat, bend and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations
• Must be able to successfully complete all pre-employment criteria
• Ability to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicable
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or 4 years' experience as an Environmental Technician in the chemical, rubber or petroleum industry
• Current Department of Transportation (DOT) Certification; must be obtained if not currently certified
• Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Certification; must be obtained if not currently certified
• Current Method 9 Opacity Reader Certification; must be obtained if not currently certified
• Current Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification (40 hours); must be obtained if not currently certified
• Current Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) training status; must be obtained if training status is not current
• Experience with Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) permitting
• Experience with conducting RCRA, SPCC and TPDES audits
• Experience coordinating shipment of hazardous and non-hazardous waste under DOT and RCRA rules
• Experience preparing Annual Waste Summary Reports for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
• Experience adhering to industry-specific safety standards
