Outreach Special Education Teacher Responsibilities :

Perform the duties of a classroom Instructor for the deaf and the blind, blind / low Vision(B / LV) division. Focused specifically on students' vision services and relevant instruction.

This role works in partnership with a cooperating high school teacher who focuses on students academic content and instruction.

• Act as case manager for student IEP needs.
• Prepare and write lesson plans for each student
• Generate information / reports on children as appropriate
• Assist parents in embedding activities within the child’s everyday routines with regular home visits and / or Parent Workshops
• Take a collaborative role at staffing meetings, IEP meetings, student transitions, and aid in IEP success through appropriate assessments, including assessment of vision functioning, goal development, and follow-through of the IEP
• Attend training sessions and workshops as assigned by program administrators

Outreach Special Education Teacher Qualifications / Requirements :

• State of Utah Special Education Teaching License (can help with transferring out of state licenses)
• Visual Impairment endorsement highly preferred (will need to obtain it to be considered fully certified)
• Highly skilled in teaching, reading, and embossing Braille (or desire / willingness to learn)
• Experience with technology for the blind
• Experience working with students with multiple disabilities
• Willingness to travel to 6-8 schools in your assigned regional area
