Qualifications


POSITION SUMMARY

This position will support Goodwill Industries of San Antonio in assisting the store manager in managing retail operations. Assist with the efficient operation of the Organization’s retail stores. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan and implement work schedules, estimate team member-hour requirements. Accountable for team member coverage for retail sales area and merchandise processing.
  2. Assign and coordinate work tasks of team members, participants, and volunteers in processing, pricing, merchandising, and rotation functions to achieve daily production goals.
  3. Provide on-the-job training; safety standard training and performance expectations. Monitor and follow up on work assignments for participants, volunteers and team members.
  4. Recommend personnel action, such as promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures to management.
  5. Provide input for evaluation of team members’ performance and appraisal.
  6. Assist in opening and closing the retail store by following established procedures according to the Retail Operations Manual.
  7. Greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner. Meet and make a connection with customers, asking questions and listening to shoppers' needs, then giving options and advice on meeting those needs.
  8. Inspire the customer to buy, and create a lasting positive impression of you, Goodwill Industries, and the purchase.
  9. Maintain selling floor presentations, and restock them as needed.
  10. Learn Goodwill’s systems and procedures to enhance selling efficiencies and complete support duties.
  11. Maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting Goodwill’s commitment to our customer – the most important person in our stores.
  12. Maintain good housekeeping standards.
  13. Adhere to, and ensure adherence to, all Loss Prevention and inventory control and compliance, risk management, and ethics policies and procedures. Safeguard donations and all Goodwill property and resources; secure from harm, theft, accidental loss, or disposal. Promptly investigate or participate for all reported incidents.
  14. Ensure proper use of register, cash handling methods, and execution of customer transactions according to retail business standards.
  15. Provide a safe working environment and ensure team members work safely and that unsafe conditions are immediately addressed and corrected. Conduct weekly huddle, safety inspections, investigates accidents, complete related reports in an accurate and timely basis, and takes corrective action to prevent recurrences. Take proactive steps in preventing accidents.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  2. 6 months experience in a service-driven; supervisory role.
  3. Basic computer skills.
  4. Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Available to work a variety of hours, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  6. Ability to bend, lift, grasp and move continuously through the day. Good verbal communication skills with ability to effectively work as a team to achieve mission goals
  7. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  8. For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
