Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Sales and Production Training Manager is responsible for developing, managing and implementing retail training in the areas of retail sales floor and production standards, and managing and training on sales data analytics. Promotes positive work environment that celebrates mission, vision and core values in every action and interaction with co-workers, donors, customers, management and persons served.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail Operations:
  • Leads and trains store management and other retail personnel in building highly satisfied and productive teams.
  • Maintains a complete and open dialogue with immediate supervisor regarding any development within the scope of their area of responsibility.
  • Researches and understands all aspects of GISVNN retail concepts in order to educate, develop, and coach others on applications.
  • Maximizes sales performance through training on proper rotation, display, signage, and inventory of processed merchandise.
  • Assists in the triage approach of retail facilities as directed by the VP of Retail.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of training tools and curriculum content as related to retail sales and production processes.
  • Evaluates current production processes at each retail facility; identifying areas of opportunity and provides necessary training to store personnel.
  • Assists with sustaining a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization.
  • Develops and maintains effective, cooperative working relationships and communications with peers, managers and their subordinates while demonstrating an awareness of and consideration for the opinions and feelings of others.
  • Seeks successful results and shows urgency in completing assignments and tasks.
Transportation:
  • Coordinates with the Regional Manager clean-ups, site switches, store support and dock work based on management guidance and operational/seasonal trends.
  • Coordinates with the Regional Manager equipment replacement and repairs as needed.
Financial:
  • Examines and analyzes expenses, production and sales to achieve maximum revenue for all assignments.
  • Makes recommendations to senior management designed to increase efficiency and revenue and lower expenses.
  • Emphasizes the necessity of contribution to Goodwill's profitability and exercise decision-making skills to enhance the organization's financial position.
Risk Management:
  • Inspects to assure that assigned stores and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards and that safety procedures are understood and followed by all Store Managers.
  • Ensures that all assigned stores are reporting and investigating all asset protection matters accurately and in a timely manner.
Human Resources:
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating and managing employees to ensure an efficient and effective work force.
  • Partners with Human Resources to assist in training of retail personnel to ensure they are in full compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and regulations.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ensures compliance with all Goodwill Industries Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.
  • Ensures that store personnel at all assigned stores or on assigned projects are properly adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned Policies and Procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in the retail environment.
  • Must have strong skills in profit and loss, sales or cost management accountability experience.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with customers and employees.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of integrity and business ethics.
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.
  • No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
  • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Must be required to pass a drug and background screening.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Economics or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Multi-unit management experience is preferred.

This position is a full time, exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Flex-Time Off. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc.
WORK CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:
  • Work is performed in Retail and Production environments with exposure to frequent physical handling of product.
  • Occasional building of fixtures.
  • High adaptability is required.
  • Work environment is usually hectic (fast paced) with frequent short deadlines and a regular number of critical or unusual situations.
  • Travel to various company locations is required.
