Job Identification: Immediate Supervisor: Safety and Compliance Manager EEOC Class: Manual Labor FLSA Status: Non-exempt Wage $17.75-$17.75 Job Summary: The HazMat Safety Coordinator is responsible for the upkeep and processing of all hazardous waste material within our facility. The coordinator is responsible for helping to keep the department efficient and effective, reducing waste and costs, and contributing to sustainability efforts. Duties/Responsibilities: Receives hazardous materials, sorts through materials to identify types, and properly processes, labels, and stores materials. Ensures proper waste disposal/storage procedures are being followed and adheres to department SOP. Enters data and maintains logs on incoming/outgoing hazardous waste per location, deferred weight, and recycling. Monitors and notifies supervisors when supplies needed to carry out the handling of hazardous waste collection are low. Complies with all environmental, OSHA, Federal, State, Local regulations, and company policies and requirements. Receives ongoing training to maintain current knowledge with policies and requirements. Conducts self in a safe manner; works cooperatively as a team with warehouse employees to prevent bodily injuries and property damages. Performs other related duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team, and/or mission. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak/read/write proficient English. Must have basic computer skills. Knowledge of or the ability to learn Microsoft Office/Office 365. Must have basic math skills. Available to work during any retail and warehouse operating hours, also including early morning, evening, and weekends. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Works well under pressure and with deadlines; ability to multitask. Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Honesty, integrity, reliability, punctuality. Thorough knowledge about companys mission and services. Uphold compliance with all legal, health, and safety guidelines. Experience in hazardous material handling/disposal or related experience preferred. Valid driver license preferred. Physical Requirements: Free from drug and alcohol abuse. Ability to stand for 8 hours at a time. Ability to bend/squat/stoop. Ability to lift/pull/push 50lbs. Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time. Environmental Conditions: Warehouse. Office. Outdoors. Equipment, machines and tools used: Pallet jack. Battery tester. Computer.
