JOB SUMMARY:

The IT Director is responsible for the oversight, strategy and hands-on execution of the IT and telecommunication functions for Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake. The oversight and delivery of IT services includes responsibility for IT operations as well as project management of system selection, upgrade, implementation, and service delivery. The position includes the development of long - term strategic plans for technology, data, and security in collaboration with executive and senior leadership across all divisions. The IT director is accountable for managing IT resources, including external services and outsourced operations while balancing quality of support and cost efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • IT Operations
    1. Accountable for timely resolution of software, hardware, and telecommunications issues, including routine monitoring of volume and trends of incidents through HelpDesk (Zendesk).
    2. Ensure uptime of retail and store systems, including maintaining coverage and participating in the off-hours emergency call helpdesk
    3. Oversees maintenance of hardware and software applications, including effective usage of equipment given divisional needs
    4. Ensures accurate records on all hardware and software (including location)
    5. Responsible for the timely back-up of all software, including monitoring and retention
    6. Responsible for system integrity and security risk assessments, including resolution of issues and development/implementation of effective policies and procedures
    7. Provide overall IT governance in alignment with organizational goals
    8. Plan, implement, document and monitor changes in infrastructure configurations
    9. Management and Administration of the Goodwill Microsoft 365 environment and related platforms including Entra, Exchange, SharePoint, and Intune
    10. Lead corporate communicate with organization about IT topics
    11. Develop best practices and written documentation for all maintenance activities
    12. Oversee the provisioning of the end-user accounts and systems
    13. Develop and maintain system standards
    14. Managed the IT cyber security training and phishing testing programs
    15. Directing the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes
    16. Leads efforts to improve IT processes
  • IT Function Management
    1. Manage IT staff, which includes hiring, training, guidance, and supervision
    2. Manage the financial aspects of IT function, including managing actual expenses to approved budget
    3. Manage hardware and software vendor relationships
    4. Effectively utilizes consultants to assist with IT projects and incidents
    5. Collaborates with IT leads across Goodwill Industries International (GII) for best practices and learning, including with other external networks as needed
  • IT Strategy
    1. Collaborates with divisions to understand long-term technology needs to achieve mission and strategy and develops recommendations and action plans to support objectives
    2. Provides recommendations to enhance user experience with hardware and software, including an appropriate balance of user needs in retail, workforce development, and administrative functions.
    3. Leads the development and optimization of data, security, and business intelligence through data visualization and governance to support user needs
    4. Identify and recommend effective and cost-efficient hardware and software in support of Goodwill's mission and strategic objectives
    5. Work with staff to enhance current technologies to improve client services
  • IT Project Management
    1. Responsible for collaborating and / or managing IT projects to upgrade or implement new hardware or software
    2. Assists in identifying and recommending relevant software to meet business needs, including the assessment of scope, schedule, and budget across vendors
    3. Communicates and reports regularly on status of IT projects including any risks to implementation, schedule, or budget
    4. Identifies new opportunities for solving business needs with innovative technology solutions

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Required education/experience: High School Diploma/GED 9 years relevant experience OR Associate's degree 7 years relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree 5 years relevant experience in Information Technology or similar focus
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience at a supervisory level or higher required

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Microsoft 365 Certifications Preferred

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:

  • Supervision of IT Technicians

  • Experience in controlling information technology budget

  • Travels to sites, including retail stores, to assist with IT issues or projects
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate. Position requires up to 85% local territory-wide travel. Access to own vehicle is required
