Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan is Hiring a Community Development Manager Near Adrian, MI

JOB TITLE: Community Development Manager

Reports to: President & CEO Department: Administration

FLSA Status: Exempt - Salaried Supervises: Photographer/Graphic Designer

Job Summary:

The Community Development Manager is a mission-critical role, acting as the lead strategist for community organizing and Business Development. The Community Development Manager will lead, plan, and direct the community engagement and parent organizing planning and strategy for Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan and will execute upon this strategy for special organizing and engagement projects. This position will also be responsible for developing a working liaison with the local media in Lenawee and Monroe Counties, enhancing Goodwill SEMI's website and social media presence, improving internal and external communication of events and program development.

Essential Functions:

  1. Oversee all branding, creation, usage, and promotion with emphasis on people, mission, and products.
  2. Produce press releases and public service announcements to local media outlets.
  3. Provide internal communication regarding activities, events and highlights including success stories.
  4. Develop creative material for social media sites.
  5. Business Development to include pursuing strategic opportunities for Goodwill by cultivating partnerships or other commercial relationships, or identifying new markets for its products or services.
  6. Build, develop, track, and manage relationships with a broad base of constituents.
  7. Continue to develop, manage, and grow the Goodwill Ambassador Program.
  8. Organize and manage all external events related to Goodwill including Honors Night.
  9. Attend community Organization meetings (i.e., Chamber of Commerce)
  10. Develop enhanced media communication and cooperation.
  11. Assist in the development and execution of community and organizational events.
  12. Provide analytical data to measure the success and impact.
  13. Design posters, flyers, brochures, social media and other printed material for distribution.
  14. Joint oversight of the organization media budget and spending.
  15. Corresponds with employees and external stakeholders to keep them informed of organizational
  16. Ensures messaging aligns with key business strategies and business.
  17. Develop and maintain print and presentation materials and branding strategies for employee use.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains documentation of individual activity and submits reports to appropriate administrative staff.
  2. Participates in marketing and community activities.
  3. Seeks, initiates, and takes advantage of photo and branding opportunities internally and externally.
  4. Maintains and develops good relations in the community regarding Goodwill.
  5. Understands recipient rights and the confidentiality of our consumers.
  6. Safety: Maintain applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations in areas of responsibility. Performs job duties in a safe manner and assures safe environment for people by maintaining a clean and orderly work area and using proper lifting techniques.
  7. Outcome Driven: Uses strategic objectives to drive performance and improve Goodwill's value to the community.
  8. Stakeholder Focused: Work with integrity and provide exemplary customer services to internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Accountability: Have key metrics that drive performance taking a leadership role in maximizing the social and financial return of the community resources invested in Goodwill.
  10. Financial Stability: Utilize the resources of the organization in an efficient and effective manner.
  11. Strategic Visioning: Commitment to innovation, continuous learning, and leading change in creating community value.
  12. Professionalism: Demonstrate a genuine interest in serving the needs of others and a positive attitude toward the community, co-workers, and individuals we serve. Represent the organization to the public with a courteous, helpful, and business-like attitude.
  13. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork.
  14. Adjusts work hours to include early and late meetings, some weekend work schedules when required, and contacts at various locations.
  15. Carries out additional duties as assigned by Administration.

Education and/or Experience:

A high school diploma or GED is required. Community relations involvement and knowledge in multimedia a plus. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience working with persons with disabilities is helpful. A diversified job background is helpful. The incumbent shall:

  • Be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Have a valid driver's license and insurance and be able to drive from location to location.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, and lift up to 20 pounds, walking or standing to a significant degree, involves working in the community and in an office, environment infrequently exposed to extreme temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.
