Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will support Goodwill Industries of San Antonio in performing maintenance tasks such as cleaning, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform floor finish removal (stripping) from surfaces using approved and appropriate finish removers by following procedures to free of dirt, stains, deposits, cleaning solutions, standing water leaving a uniform appearance when dry.
  • Apply floor finish (wax) to floor surface by following manufacturer's directions.
  • Shampoo carpet leaving area uniform in appearance and free of stains and discoloration using carpet spot removal as needed.
  • Clean exterior window surfaces by removing all traces of film, dirt, smudges, water and other foreign matter from frames, casing sills and glass.
  • Remove, wash and replace Venetian blinds from windows.
  • Perform dry/spray buffing on floor surfaces leaving a uniform appearance. Adhere to Loss Prevention and inventory control and compliance procedures.
  • Manually scrub ceramic and/or tile floors applying disinfectant solutions to free from soil, minerals, algae, and mildew build-up.
  • Inform appropriate personnel of irregularities and possible problems at contract site in a timely manner.
  • Enhance safety program by following all Federal, State and agency safety requirements; wear safety equipment; follow the use of chemicals and equipment according to the manufacturer’s directions; attend required training.
  • Keep facility clean and hazard-free by vacuuming, mopping, dusting and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Dispose of trash and unusable merchandise into designated container and dispose in an appropriate manner.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
  • Adhere to, and ensure adherence to, all Loss Prevention and inventory control and compliance, risk management, and ethics policies and procedures. Safeguard donations and all Goodwill property and resources; secure from harm, theft, accidental loss, or disposal. Promptly investigate or participate in investigations for all reported incidents.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas as necessary and remove stains/spills as quickly as possible.
  • Dust throughout areas as necessary. Careful consideration to team member’s belongings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 2 years experience in commercial cleaning environment.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. Organized and detailed. Analyze, evaluate situations, and develop alternatives for conflict resolution.
  • Basic cleaning methods. Stripping and waxing, chemical usage. Equipment usage, buffer, carpet extractor and grout hog.
  • Work performed indoors in a controlled temperature condition; may be exposed to outside weather conditions of heat, cold, and humidity; may be exposed to dust, dirt, and solid particles from donated goods.
  • Available to work a day shift.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
