Position summary: The Salvage and Transportation Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the staging of materials for transportation, storage, and distribution as well as loading of goods and supplies related to Goodwill’s post-retail, recycling, ecommerce and salvage operations. Position also oversees the daily planning, directing and coordinating the loading and unloading of vehicles used for transportation and distribution of goods and supplies related to Goodwill’s production, DGR, recycling and salvage operations.

Essential functions:

Responsible for planning and direction of salvage personnel and product transportation services to support Goodwill business divisions.
Maintain metrics, analyze data and compile reports to assess performance and efficiency. Recommend and implement improvements to increase revenue, profitability, output, quality, or safety.
Manage the transportation of materials to / from stores, warehouse, customer and supplier locations; plan routes and delivery / pick-up schedules of materials.
Inspect physical conditions of the warehouse and recommend testing, maintenance, repairs or replacements. Inspect vehicles and coordinate testing, maintenance, repairs or replacements of parts.
Maintain communication with other departments to coordinate activities and planning and ensure both transportation and salvage operations run smoothly.
Maintain strong customer relations with existing clients and vendors. Maintain communication with Contract Services to coordinate transportation schedules for shipping and deliveries of products produced by contract services.
Ensure department compliance with OSHA, CARF, and other required standards for quality and safety.

Pursue professional career development through continuing education and training opportunities; increase knowledge / understanding of industry trends.
Attend safety trainings and follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and directed work environment for all employees at all times.
Promote positive teamwork among co-workers, including daily planning meetings with teams as well as making sure positive communication exists between corporate and the stores.
Train, direct, lead and evaluate team members.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and required skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills including able to read / write English fluently.
Functional in the use of computer programs in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); payroll software and GPS Technology.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills; excellent customer services skills.
Must be able to pass forklift certification test; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to stand or sit up to 8 hours a day without restrictions.
Must have excellent attendance and reliable transportation to and from work; valid current driving license required with active insurance.
Must be able to work Monday – Saturday including some holidays throughout the year as required.

Education and experience:

Associates degree or 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or warehouse setting in lieu of degree; must possess high school diploma or GED.
