Supervises: Sr. Employment Specialist, Employment Specialist, and Mission Services Administrative Assistant
Position summary: The Manager of Mission Services is responsible for the overall development and delivery of high quality cost-effective services which result in maximized job placement outcomes across the organization’s service area. These responsibilities include; but are not limited to the management and viability of Goodwill’s rehabilitation services and grant programs, including budgeting, program development and staffing, reporting, regulatory compliance, business and referral agency relations.
Essential functions:
  • Work closely with the President and CEO to set strategic goals for mission services, job placements, budgeting and staffing needs. Develop, implement and monitor annual plans that will increase organizational capacity in thoughtful, structured and measureable ways.
  • Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with referring agencies and attracting new partnerships and participants resulting in a steady revenue stream of referrals to support program activities.
  • Ensure that the provision of services is consistent with Mission Service’s annual goals in terms of number of persons served, number of people placed into jobs and revenue generation.
  • Increase the number of job placements Goodwill secures each year through a systematic approach to building business relationships, to include site visits, Goodwill open houses, job fairs and business networks, utilizing appropriate marketing materials and follow-up strategies.
  • Routinely monitor service delivery for clients, business partners and referral agencies; recommend strategies to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and ensure quality services.
  • Evaluate program impact and make recommendations to improve services, training and opportunities for employment and/or eliminate barriers for participants. Research other Goodwill agency initiatives and industry trends to add new program offerings and to ensure current programs are relevant, sustainable and future-focused.
  • Maintain highest quality services while ensuring compliance with CARF Accreditation and meeting funder and/or referral source requirements.
  • Assist in obtaining funding by identifying and providing required information for grant proposals, responding to RFPs/RFIs and expansion of revenue streams.
  • Assist Accounting to ensure all grant funds are properly dispersed, recorded and reported in a timely manner.
  • Develop and submit accurate, reliable and timely performance data regarding services delivered.
  • Work effectively to assess needs, develop strategy and collaborate as a part of the Senior Leadership Team for alignment of objectives across the organization.
  • Assist in selection, scheduling, evaluation, and development of the Mission Services staff.
  • Lead, supervise and evaluate a team of professionals working as Employment Specialists, Job Coaches, etc.
  • Attend safety trainings and follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and supervised work environment for all employees at all times.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Board of Directors regarding Mission Services matters.
  • Develop a solid network of business contacts within the Goodwill of Lorain County service area, regional, state and national settings as appropriate, as well as with other Goodwill affiliates.
  • Represent Goodwill’s mission and values in the community. Serve as a community resource, advocate, and catalyst in the community to address important issues for people with disabilities and disadvantaging conditions. Represent Goodwill of Lorain County in regional, state and national settings, as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance and monitors implementation of CARF standards related to Mission Services.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge base through the pursuit of professional career development, training and continuing education, as well as through a network of contacts in the Mission Services field to keep current on legislative regulations and issues, as well as industry trends and best practices.   • Promote the Goodwill Brand and positive teamwork among co-workers.
  • Responsible for other duties as may be assigned by the President and CEO.
Qualifications and required skills:
  • Ability to lead staff and continually strive to improve rehabilitation services and programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including group speaking, training, administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information related to Goodwill’s operations, financial data, and personnel matters.
  • Independent thinking, strong organizational, time management and planning abilities as well as excellent analytical and problem solving skills and ability to think and plan strategically while also using innovative approaches.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, accounting software and other Goodwill specific programs and applications
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be willing to submit and pass a criminal background check.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and proof of current automobile insurance required every six months.
Education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, Public Health, Education or other industry-related field preferred.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience supervising a professional staff.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience working with state and local agencies and other funding sources.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience building and maintaining professional business relationships and partnerships.
  • Significant experience in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
