Provide individual assistance and guidance to consumers with developmental disabilities, and/or people dually diagnosed, for the purposes of assisting them to become as independent and connected to the community as possible through the use of peer counseling, self-advocacy groups, Person-Centered Planning tools, in addition to recreation, educational and vocational programming.

Essential Functions: Describe the intrinsic job duties that define the core responsibilities of the job.

• Peer advocate would provide assistance to DSPs in conducting group discussions, lessons and presentations on self advocacy.
• Peer advocate would be providing assistance to engage the people we support to participate in group activities and discussions.
• Peer advocate would be responsible for providing presentations and/or discussions on various topics including disability advocacy.
• Participate in OPWDD IRC/incident Review Committee.
