Directs and coordinates activities of transportation, dock, and textile/soft goods salvage to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel by performing the following duties.

Directly supervises 8 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Plan, organize, direct, and control the operations of all divisions under Transportation in accordance with departmental budget.
• Establish efficient and effective routing and scheduling of vehicles for assigned store deliveries/pickups, donor pickups, transfer of merchandise from dock to stores, and rotation of donations in all stores. Maintain reports as needed on material processed directly to stores.
• Oversee loading of store shipments to ensure store needs are met and to protect goods from damage while in transit.
• Provide guidance for sorting incoming donations and routing repairable/useable items to the appropriate areas.
• Ensure all vehicles/forklifts are checked daily and maintained according to the preventative maintenance schedule. Ensure that all needed repairs are performed in a timely manner.
• Ensure that dock and driveway areas are kept clear of trash, including loading and disposal of trash.
• Direct investigations into causes of customer or shipper complaints and respond accordingly. Negotiate with carriers and vehicle leasing operators for services.
• Responsible for the following Aftermarket responsibilities: Negotiate rates, agreements, and pick-up schedules with salvage buyers. Creates and sends invoices to salvage buyers via the use of an invoicing software program, ensuring payments are made and records. Responsible for ongoing Aftermarket income reports to the Director of Retail.
• Monitor the use of gasoline credit cards.
• Staff dock area so personnel are available as needed to assist in loading and unloading trucks, as well as assist in keeping the dock and surrounding yard area free of debris.
• Schedule all staff to incur minimal overtime.
• Test all new drivers, provide backup driving when necessary, and observe drivers periodically to make suggestions for improvement/corrections.
• Ensure that all employees follow safety guidelines and wear PPE, when applicable.
