The **Retail** **Training Specialist** is responsible for onboarding, orienting, and training personnel with emphasis on Goodwills Retail Operations. Specific training topics may include customer service, cashiering, accepting donations, preparing items for sale, and merchandising. The Retail Training Specialist should be prepared to both create and deliver curriculum while informing the organization of practices that support cultural and fiscal objectives. All interactions and activities ultimately strengthen and connect to Goodwills mission to change lives and enrich communities through the power of work. This position will operate out of Goodwills Home Office located at **1235 S. Eugene St., Greensboro, NC**. Regular travel is required throughout our five-county territory, including Guilford, Alamance, Randolph, Rockingham, and Caswell Counties.

**Essential Functions**

To be successful, the Retail Training Specialist must be very organized, able to multi-task, and excel at communication and instruction. Key responsibilities and activities:

* Identifies, develops, delivers, and facilitates the delivery of curriculum, training, and development opportunities to diverse employee populations. This includes development of curriculum and lesson plans on a variety of topics as identified in collaboration with the Goodwill team from all departments.

* Provides training to new hire personnel, including orientation and onboarding.

* Responsible for creating a motivating learning environment; assesses and tracks student progress, modifying approach/supports as needed.

* Creates development plans for team members and actively coordinates training opportunities for individuals improved performance and career development.

* Schedules and coordinates continued training and mentoring for new hire personnel, providing continued support and guidance to trainees, managers, and mentors.

* Regularly travels to sites to coach trainees on assigned tasks and training curriculum.

* Keeps detailed records of training activities and outcomes. Reviews and analyzes results to determine effectiveness of training program.

**Minimum Requirements**

* An Associates degree from an accredited college or university in business, human resources, human services, education, or related field. A combination of related experience and/or college-level coursework may be considered in lieu of an Associates degree.

* 2-years' related training or instruction experience, developing, coordinating, and conducting training programs.

* 2-years retail sales experience, preferably in retail management.

* Must understand the importance of store layout, general in-store marketing and advertising, cash handling and general administrative duties, merchandising, and supervisory practices. Knowledge of retail practices, inventory control, and exceptional customer service skills required.

* Must have a pleasing personality and inspire confidence in others.

* Must have sufficient knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures to understand sales reports incidental to store operations, processing information and merchandise through computer system and POS register system.

* Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to negotiate and produce productive relationships.

* Must have excellent computer skills and expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint). Must be exceptionally well organized, able to handle multiple priorities, and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision.

* Must have a good command of written and spoken English, including good grammar, is required (Bi-lingual in Spanish is strongly preferred)

* Valid NC drivers license with good driving record, reliable vehicle, and proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage.

* Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and background screens.

**Hours**

Position is full-time, hourly, and averages 40 hrs/week. Work is generally conducted Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

**Salary & Benefits**

Hourly position paying approximately $16-$20/hour depending on experience and education.
