Goodwill Industries Michiana is Hiring a Retail Skills Coordinator - FT Near Mishawaka, IN

Job ObjectiveThe Retail Skills Coordinator is responsible for providing dynamic, hands-on retail training to individuals enrolled in the Retail Skills Training program. This individual will play a key role in the coordination, development, and presentation of the Retail Skills Training program with qualified trainees. This position reports to the Manager of Career and Technical Education who evaluates performance annually.

Essential Job Functions
  • Dynamic communicator with the ability to motivate trainees through hands-on, one on one interaction.
  • Must be able to work well with the Store Managers and his/her team to ensure the needs of the store are met.
  • Review the files of individuals participating in the program prior to their start date to ensure that the facilitator is familiar with the individual.
  • Evaluate and measure trainees’ progress using assessments and recommend necessary training activities to assist trainees’ progress.
  • Identify training and support issues in conjunction with the designated Case Manager as needed.
  • Coordinate weekly training schedules.
  • Complete the required weekly participation form to determine progress in the program component.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports of training conducted, effectiveness of training, and attainment of goals. Ensure that all designated parties receive a copy of the progress report.
  • Coordinate with the Store Manager to ensure that all slots are filled with trainees to ensure the store is able to process materials, stock the store, provide superior customer service, operate the cash register, and maintain the cleanliness of the store.
  • Conduct retail skills workshops utilizing the approved curriculum.
  • Communicate with professionalism and respect with both internal and external customers.
Required Skills And Education
  • Teaching and/or group facilitation skills and experience a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to react quickly to situations and provide solid guidance in line with needs of clients, requirements of funding streams, policies of Goodwill and legal requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to relate to, understand, and be creative in meeting the needs of:
    • Disabled and disadvantaged clients
    • Illiterate to college educated clients
    • Ex-offenders
    • Referral agencies in the area
  • Ability to use discretion and sound judgment when working independent of supervision and interpret and implement general placement policies.
  • Ability to adjust to a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to meditate, negotiate, and resolve client and funding stream grievances on behalf of the client and/or funding stream.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Products at an advanced level, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.
Qualifications
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Flexible availability.
  • Able to frequently bend, twist, reach above shoulder level, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use head and neck in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
