Description

Job Objective:

To drive company truck for delivery and pick up of material under direction of the Central Operations Manager, or the Director of Transportation, Facilities, & Grounds, who evaluates performance annually.

Essential Job Functions:

• Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
• Drive truck to complete route assigned by Transportation Supervisor.
• Load material from collection boxes, stores, or homes onto truck with assistance of Truck Helper or client.
• Unload trucks at stores, plant or into semi-trailers with assistance of Truck Helper or client.
• Supervise Truck Helper or client on assigned route and report any violation of company policy including driver or helper actions while working (including no donated or personal items allowed in cab of truck).
• Load truck to prevent damage to articles and to make most effective use of truck space.
• Record quantity and type of articles transported daily and turn record in to Dispatcher.
• Move items manually with hand truck or pallet jack.
• Deal with customers and store personnel in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions and explaining company services, as necessary.
• Report any malfunction of truck or equipment to Transportation Supervisor immediately.
• Rate client performance.
• Clean collection boxes, as necessary.
• Keep truck interior (box and cab) clean.
• Perform vehicle safety checks as required.
• Miscellaneous warehouse and/or dock work as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must possess a valid chauffeur's license or CDL.
• Must be D.O.T. certified.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Ability to safely drive Goodwill straight truck - 25,995 GVW.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
• Must wear hard soled shoes, back belt, gloves, and use other safety or protective equipment as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to read and write clearly.
• Ability to load and unload heavy objects from truck.
• Ability to work in a light industrial area with significant dust.
• Ability to work in retail stores with significant dust.
• Exposure to weather and road conditions.
• Ability to be in buildings and homes of the general public.
