Position Description The Director of Communications & Annual Giving sets the strategic direction of the Goodman Community Center's (GCC) communications and annual giving programs. The Director supervises a team of communications professionals who are responsible for all external print and digital communications, as well as organizational branding. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, President and Executive Director, Development Department and Program colleagues, the Director of Communications and Annual Giving plays a critical role in telling Goodman's story in our community, stewarding current donors, cultivating future donors, and developing and implementing a strategy to increase the size and number of individual gifts from community givers. Serves as a member of GCC's Senior Leadership Team.
Develops, refines, and executes a comprehensive strategy for GCC's annual and mid-level giving programs and other annual solicitations and stewardship of these activities.
Tracks effectiveness of these strategies through analytics; adjusts tactics as necessary based on data.
Manages all of GCC's public relations and external relationships with news and media outlets, coordinating interviews with staff, volunteers and participants, and representing GCC for news and radio as needed.
Drafts and manages the expense budget for the Marketing/Communications team.
Drafts the annual Community Giving revenue budget in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer.
Oversees and sets the strategy for all external print and digital communications, including mailed appeals, Eastside News, email, social media, web content, advertising, and earned media.
Tracks the effectiveness of these materials using analytics from GCC's in-house database, Google analytics, social media analytics, and other data resources.
Ensures timely delivery of gift solicitations, including overseeing production and mailing, and coordinates with printers, mail houses, and other suppliers. Submits appropriate requests for mailing lists and assists in preparing them for the mail house.
Develops and executes a comprehensive marketing and brand strategy for GCC with the goal of increasing GCC brand awareness and maintaining and increasing GCC organizational loyalty.
Support the communications and marketing efforts related to Development-sponsored events and other Center-based events and programs.
Evaluate the performance of direct and indirect reports through GCC's performance evaluation system and encourage direct and indirect reports' professional development.

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in communications/marketing or development
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Excellent organization and project management skills along with excellence in written, interpersonal, and verbal communication
Proven experience in, or a strong desire to master, the art of fundraising communications
Expertise in multichannel marketing and communications
Collaborative leader with experience supervising a team preferred
Self-motivated, achievement-oriented, and able to work well independently and cooperatively; proven success working as a team member
Willingness and ability to learn from training, workshops, and professional conferences
Solid computer skills in a PC environment with the capability to master new software applications and technologies in database management
Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
Experience with Adobe Creative Design and/or other audio-visual software, and familiarity with online content management systems and Google analytics preferred, but not required
