REPORTS TO: HOUSEKEEPING/LAUNDRY SUPERVISOR

STATUS: HOURLY

WORKING HOURS: AS SCHEDULED

JOB SUMMARY:

Ensure resident and facility laundry is properly washed, dried, folded, and/or distributed to resident's rooms. Responsible for keeping the laundry area and equipment clean and safe.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred

Experience: One year's experience in a healthcare facility preferred

Job Knowledge: Read, write, and speak English; follow instructions; deal tactfully with personnel, residents and family members. Properly use supplies and maintain equipment; maintain appearance of laundry areas in a safe, clean, and comfortable manner; work harmoniously with other personnel; able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the laundry compounds, liquids, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive work area.
2. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
3. Assure that established infection control practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
4. Be knowledgeable of facility's policies and procedures for laundry personnel.
5. Report all hazardous conditions and/or equipment to supervisor.
6. Assure that equipment is cleaned, properly stored, and all equipment and supply needs are recommended to the supervisor.
7. Maintain confidentiality of resident-care information.
8. Assure that all resident and facility laundry is properly washed, dried, folded, hung, and stored.
9. Have a working knowledge of commercial and domestic washers and dryers. Understand functions of various soaps, bleaches, softeners, and other chemicals.
10. Recognize various fabrics and know proper laundry procedures for them.
