Gonzalez Contract Services is Hiring a Forklift Operator Near Auburn, MI

  • 1 week of training on 1st Shift 6:00am-2:30pm $17.00
  • 2nd Shift 2:30pm to 10:00pm $18.00
  • 3rd Shift 10:00pm to 6:30am $18.50
  • .50 Increase after 30 days
  • Direct around 90 with good attendance

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Looking for motived individuals responsible for material delivery, inventory control and loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Team Members will utilize powered industrial equipment to ensure timely material flow within the plant and assembly lines.
  • The Hi-Lo Driver role is responsible for ensuring on time material delivery, organization of material in proper storage locations and material movement as required.
  • Reporting directly to the Materials Supervisor you will interface with other functions such as quality, manufacturing engineering, production, and maintenance.
  • This position places high premiums on effective teamwork, clear communication, initiative, and intelligent judgement to achieve and maintain material flow, efficiency and quality.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out routine production material delivery functions, as well as special production delivery needs
  • Assist team members and work with multiple teams to successfully deliver the right material to the right location.
  • Assist in performing hands-on materials functions such as repacking material into plastic totes from cardboard.
  • Absenteeism replacement.
  • Perform 5S activities.
  • Report safety concerns immediately and always wear proper PPE.
  • Delivery of material to a fast paced lithium ion battery assembly line.
  • Flexible and capable of cross training and job rotation.
  • Become proficient at multiple Hi-Lo driving positions.
  • Daily accountability for safety, quality, production requirements.
  • Start of shift activities, Hi-Lo check sheet completion & end of shift clean up.
  • Read and follow work instructions, drawings, diagrams, specifications.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reading and writing skills.
  • Flexible and capable of adapting to change.
  • Ability to follow work instructions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, carry light objects, handle parts, reach with hands and arms, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Attention to detail in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams to ensure the team meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Drug screen and Background Check
  • Steel toed boots

Preferred:

  • 2 years of Hi-Lo driving experience.
  • Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.

QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comply with requirements of the Quality Operating System (QOS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2008
  • Identify concerns and initiate corrective actions (through verification) relating to product, process and quality systems
  • Initiate preventative and continuous improvement actions relating to product, process and quality systems

HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Follow safe work procedures established by the Company; and follow the OH&S directions of the head of your department or supervisor
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems Where PPE is required to control exposure to hazards in the workplace, wear and maintain the PPE as directed, as indicated in a risk assessment, or as required in OH&S procedures
  • Use other safety and emergency equipment provided in the workplace as directed or as required in OH&S procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
  • Before commencing work or research, a risk assessment should be conducted to identify, assess and control the hazards associated with the work or research. This should be conducted in conjunction with other relevant staff, researchers and the supervisor
  • Report OH&S problems
  • Report workplace hazards to the supervisor as soon as possible after they occur
  • Report injury or illness arising from workplace activities using the incident/injury reporting system as soon as possible after the incident
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Complete monthly H&S inspections

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
