Essential Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients.
• Practice proper patient identification, particularly when working on hospital floors.
• Label vials with patient names and dates.
• Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
• Transport all specimen samples to a nearby lab.
• Centrifuge blood samples, depending on if this is allowed in the state you are working in.
• Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status.
• It will also be your responsibility to calm down patients who are frightened of blood work.
• Keeping your station clean and sanitized at all times is of utmost importance.
• To be successful in this role, you should be able to give directions clearly and concisely, as well as demonstrate empathy for patients who are scared or nervous.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Skilled in infection control, understanding universal precautions, and use of personal protective equipment.
• Must be 18 or older
• Proof of vaccination from the COVID flu and TB test.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to work well on a team as well as independently.
• Must demonstrate a customer-centric approach to all interactions.
