Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Before a surgery, the Operating Room Technician (ORT) helps prepare the operating room (OR) by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. Other duties include passing instruments, holding retractors, cutting sutures, helping count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments, and operating sterilizers, lights, or suction machines.
