STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
REPORT TO: DIRECTOR - EMPLOYEE RELATIONS PEOPLE AND CULTURE
DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES – EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

PAY SCALE: $32.39 - $37.50 HOURLY
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is a key position in the employee relations department. This role provides leadership, guidance, and support to employees on a range of HR matters. The HR Generalist is the first point of contact to the HR Department by providing consistent and reliable employee communication for all HR inquiries, which includes benefits, payroll, or policies as well as complaint intake. Additionally, this role performs a variety of human resources functions and provides back-up support for HR Business Partners.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
1. Delivers exceptional HR service to the Employee Relations team, employees, management teams, and other Credit Union partners. Acts as a proactive strategic partner to the assigned HR Business Partners by providing forward-thinking solutions, suggestions, and proposed process improvements.
2. Conducts proactive Climate Checks throughout the organization to provide the Business Partners useful information to address development needs and strategic initiatives.
3. Conducts new hire orientation by presenting HR message and supporting paperwork completion, as needed.
4. Ensures adherence to compliance by staying current with changing federal and local legislation that impacts the HR functions.
5. Leads reasonable accommodations for ALL employees as required under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and provides guidance and support to managers and employees throughout the accommodation process.
6. Performs all off-boarding tasks including exit interviews, separation information correspondence, employee equipment retrieval, and separation notifications. In addition, this role will conduct regular analysis of employment separation trends to inform the HR Business Partners where attention may be necessary.
7. Maintain records of personnel transactions: hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
8. Develops policy and procedure consistency by maintaining HR procedures for all departments within HR.
9. Supports Employee Engagement activities including reports and action planning progress.
10. Leads employee anniversary and retirement recognition.
11. Creates reports and analyzes data to be used by HR management to measure key metrics throughout the organization.
12. Participates in special projects and assignments. Performs other duties as assigned.
13. Maintain a thorough understanding of state, city and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position and all other positions under the designated business groups.
14. Assist employees in addressing their concerns, complaints and questions with empathy and expertise, ensuring a supportive work environment, which may include conducting investigations to follow up
15. Advise on employee relations matters, providing interpretation and recommendations on policies and practices, employment laws, and compliance guidelines.
16. Assist in the performance management cycle.

1. INTERNAL: All levels of staff and management.
2. EXTERNAL: Legal counsel and numerous vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. EXPERIENCE: 3 or more years’ experience working in a professional environment. Direct employment relations experience desired..
3. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
4. Effective oral and written communication skills required to understand and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner with key business partners as it relates to Human Resources matters.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.
3. Corrected vision within the normal range.
4. Hearing within normal range.
5. Ability to lift 15 lbs. may be required.
6. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certificate or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) a plus.
