Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and collaborative law firm with a national presence, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Public Relations Social Media Writer in its Buffalo office. The Public Relations & Social Media Writer develops press releases and original short form copy for use on the firm website and in social media, increasing awareness of the firm and our attorneys to support the firm’s strategic public relations plan.
An ideal candidate will excel at producing professional copy assets that can be leveraged across multiple platforms. Strong writing skills and a focus on quality are important for success in this position. As a member of the PR team, this positon also supports media engagement efforts seeking opportunities to showcase the firm’s thought leadership, increasing the firm’s visibility. Responsibilities::

• Work with the Public Relations & Media Coordinator, other departmental and firm leadership on developing and executing the media relations strategy

• Write and distribute news releases, media pitches, and other related content and postings

• Communicate proactively with reporters and editors of legal, trade, and business publications to secure editorial calendars and deadlines and develop collaborative relationships

• Research and develop timely pitches to support the firm’s thought leadership and business development priorities

• Draft content to support the development of creative media relations campaigns for specified practice areas and industries to support business development goals

• Secure regular media placements in appropriate media outlets and publications

• Monitor and evaluate media coverage, providing regular updates, analysis, and reports. Support the management of media contact database

• Author website & social media content including: captions, graphic taglines, related website announcement copy. Manage approval of posts for: new attorney announcements, firm & attorney awards, attorney speaking engagements, heritage months and firm designated holidays

• Develop storyline and write attorney profiles for publication on the firm website and social media.

• Work in tandem with Multimedia Specialist on the curation of video profiles

• Interview attorneys as needed and draft award submissions

• As needed, support editing of alerts, blog compendiums, case studies and other thought leadership assets

• Serve as back up for publication of firm blog content, including content review, approval, posting and emails

• Other projects and department support as required and requested

Experience/Requirements::

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or English

• Experience creating engaging and compelling content that translates complex business/technical solutions

• Social media savvy and an understanding of what works on each platform

• Fluency with MS Office Suite including Word and PowerPoint

• Portfolio of content demonstrating writing acumen, including varied writing samples

• Skilled editor and proofreader

Benefits::
This role offers an hourly salary and bonus opportunity. The hourly salary range for this position is $21.63 to $24.04. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
