Goldbelt, Inc. is Hiring a Remote Epidemiologist (Sr.) (Clinical Epidemiology and Treatment Team)

Summary:

Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC (GPS) is seeking an Epidemiology Data Management Specialist to support the Clinical Epidemiology and Treatment Team (ICE-T) within the Epidemiology and Prevention Branch, Influenza Division (ID) of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). ICE-T conducts population-based surveillance for influenza-associated hospitalizations, oversees a large electronic records based vaccine effectiveness platforms, and conducts analyses using multiple data platforms to describe the clinical epidemiology of influenza.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with processing and preparing data for weekly publication to internal and externally facing reports and dashboards.
  • Evaluate data dictionaries and quality control reports to assess progress of data cleaning and validation activities.
  • Prepare verbal and written summaries of data, data quality / data completeness reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of tables and figures and methods sections for peer-reviewed manuscripts.
  • Perform data visualization of surveillance data.
  • Updating programming code, data dictionaries, and databases as part of seasonal preparation work and ongoing surveillance activities.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and use of data visualization software (Power BI, Tableau, Sisense, Cognos, etc.).
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Knowledge and use of various statistical software (SAS, R, SPSS, Stata, etc.).
  • Strong aptitude for processing, working with, and evaluating data from multiple sources.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Must be able to follow protocol and process based on variables searches.
  • Ability to translate complex problems clearly and in nontechnical terms effectively internally and externally.
  • Must be capable of working with general guidance and with little to no supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to decipher and organize exceptionally large databases.
  • Proficient with basic database statistics that include mean, median, and mode.
  • Able to summarize analysis results, draws conclusions, and identifies potential recommendations.
  • Great judgment and decision making, with strong analytical skills; business intuition and business acumen.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology or Data Science or related field or related field with 5-7 years’ experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in healthcare data management and/or analysis.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, data science 
  • Previous infectious disease surveillance experience highly desired.
  • Prior experience working with CDC beneficial.
