Goldbelt Frontier is looking for an Adaptive Reconditioning Support Specialist.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

    Research venues and present options to the Adaptive Reconditioning Program lead or designee; coordinate the scheduling of the selected venue; assist in identifying and scheduling personnel to assist in the set-up and tear-down of the event; assist in identifying equipment and supplies needed for the event.
  • Assist the WTU Adaptive Reconditioning Program Lead in:
    • identifying and scheduling personnel to assist in the set-up and tear-down of each adaptive reconditioning event/activity
    • identifying and obtaining equipment and supplies needed for the execution of each adaptive reconditioning event
    • securing transportation for soldiers to and from events
  • Assist the AR Team in conducting adaptive reconditioning activities in accordance with Soldier's Adaptive Reconditioning Activity Plan. This may include leading an adaptive sport or therapeutic activity within the skill set or ability of the WTU Adaptive Reconditioning Support Specialist.
  • Utilize knowledge of behavioral health, physical and cognitive illnesses or disabilities in order to recommend a soldier for PT re-evaluation if there is a change in Soldier status or new activity modifications are needed.
  • Utilize knowledge of biological/medical science and psychology in order to understand Soldier limitations secondary to diagnosis and provide basic modifications to activity within limits of Adaptive Reconditioning Activity Plan and based upon physical and cognitive disabilities and Soldier's response to activity.
  • Schedule Soldiers for initial PT and 90-day re-assessments, RT appointments and weekly adaptive reconditioning activities.
  • Shall maintain calendars of WTU enterprise adaptive reconditioning events and activities to include the dates, times, and locations of each scheduled adaptive reconditioning event or activity and provide finished product on a timeline stated by AR Team Lead.
  • Maintain Soldier Sign-In Rosters for Adaptive Reconditioning Events.
  • Prepare After Action Reports.
  • Coordinate Completion of Risk Assessments and Maintain Risk Assessment Files.
  • Conduct Minor Adaptive Reconditioning Equipment Maintenance and Repair.
  • Coordinate Registration of WTU Soldiers for Army Trials, Warrior Games, Invictus Games, and other Adaptive Sports Events Requiring Registration.
  • Assist in Tracking and Reporting Metrics.
  • Coordinate and Support WTU Staff Meetings on Adaptive Reconditioning.
  • Provide Event Support at Competitive Events such as Army Trials and DoD Warrior Games.
  • Assist in answering phones, taking messages, photocopying, faxing, and stocking office supplies.
  • Assist in scheduling staff meetings, preparing and disseminating the agenda, setting up the meeting venue, attending the meeting, and taking notes.
  • Assist in documenting feedback received during after action reviews.
  • Assist in preparing briefs, given content provided by Event OIC or designee.
  • Assist in collecting and documenting results from the sporting events/competitions.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining personnel contact rosters.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining staff and athlete travel itineraries.
  • Assist in pre and post event logistics to include equipment inventory and management for shipping to/from the event.
  • Assist in Collecting and Reporting Metrics.
  • Assist in Developing Briefs.
  • Provide a Weekly Good News Story. The ARSS shall send the local AR Team Lead as well as the WCT Senior ARSS who will forward it to the ARP Manager a weekly good news story from the respective WTU highlighting the accomplishments of the Adaptive Reconditioning team, a soldier or a special event with photos, if appropriate.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • This individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • ARSS will have experience working with patients diagnosed with behavioral health, physical and cognitive illnesses or disabilities and knowledge of how these diagnoses affect an individual's ability to carry out meaningful occupational roles.
  • Should have first-hand knowledge of and experience assembling, disassembling and servicing adaptive sports equipment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to input data into daily trackers, maintain contact rosters and ensure metrics are up to date for weekly and monthly report generation.
  • Knowledge gained through relevant experience which enables the employee to competently and independently carry out a range of recreation and therapeutic activities as well as adaptive sports and/or programs developed by AR Team Lead and Recreational Therapist.
  • Knowledge and ability to set up sporting and leisure events, which includes, but is not limited to: reserving spaces, coordinating with military and civilians arranging transportation to and from events and contacting Soldiers attending the event.
  • Ability to review and enact treatment plans developed by AR Team Lead and Recreational Therapist, understand and recognize soldier limitations secondary to diagnosis and engage Soldiers in adaptive activities to pursue goals developed in AR treatment plan.
  • Knowledge of musculoskeletal and neurological practices and principles within Occupational, Physical, and Recreational Therapy and how injury and disability in these areas affect a Soldier's ability to engage in sports and recreational activities.
  • The ability to efficiently book/schedule patients for clinical providers for adaptive sports and recreational therapy events.
  • The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • The ability to provide professional information and orientation to other disciplines and staff by means of informal group discussions or formal lectures.
  • The skills necessary to effectively organize and utilize all available resources within the program framework.
  • Familiarity with military culture, customs, and courtesies is preferred.
  • The position will require travel as needed to support the Adaptive Reconditioning Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The individual for this position should be either a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Recreational Therapy Assistant, or a person with a minimum of an Associate's Degree AND 2 or more years working in Adaptive Sports/Reconditioning
  • Current Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) and First Aid certification

The salary range for the position is $54,000.00-56,000.00 annually.
