Job Summary:

As Start-up Pre-Process Production Lead for Materne, North America you will be responsible for supporting the Pre-Process Production Supervisor in leading the day-to-day work activities of the work team on a designated shift. As part of the Start-up team, you will be supporting the installation and qualification of the CFT, ASD and CIP for the Pre-Processing area as part of our Expansion.

This position will work days from Monday - Friday, however flexibility will be needed for extra hours or weekened work.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pre-processing area team members in the assigned areas by maintaining a consistent, visible presence in the work area. Further mentor, motivate, and drive team members to follow safe work practices, comply with GMPs and production standards while striving to meet performance objectives (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, and Environment) and continually drive daily efforts in waste mitigation/yield improvement and report results.
  • Ensure the integrity of finished product quality. Make decisions independently related to operations and product conformance/non-conformance in absence of the Supervisor.
  • Assist or lead troubleshooting and use of troubleshooting tools to find resolution of day-to-day challenges and operator needs; assist with people, process, and equipment root-cause analysis; drive problem solving initiatives as needed; work with maintenance personnel and perform basic preventive maintenance and assist in larger maintenance tasks as needed; escalate to the on-shift Supervisor and/or maintenance on-shift supervisor when appropriate.
  • Assist the Supervisor in ensuring effective communication by relaying information between the Supervisor, work team, support departments, and other lines through written and electronic communication, face-to-face communication, as well as visual animation tools.
  • Coordinate scheduled work activities, including start-up, shut-down, mid-week CIP, ERP reconciliation, and any other activities independently or as instructed by the Supervisor. Ensure proper communication and coordination between shifts.
  • Ensure accuracy of production paperwork and facilitate timely submission to the Quality Department; investigate and ensure accurate reporting of non-compliant materials or supplies.
  • Actively observe and monitor training activities of team members. Provide detailed and appropriate feedback to the Supervisor and make recommendations for performance and/or recognition.
  • Monitor 5“S” adherence and support continuous improvement initiatives. Facilitate implementation of new processes and strive for standardization of best practice application between shifts and other production lines.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable regulations. Report violations or other concerns promptly to the Supervisor and/or Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Work with the on-shift Supervisor and production leads to ensure adequate coverage for unplanned absences and tardies. Assist with employee breaks, ensuring coverage by other operators or by personally providing the necessary coverage.
  • Perform and complete sensory testing on the lines to ensure the quality of the product.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work and stand for an entire shift (8 hour)
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 40 lbs.

Education:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a trainer, lead, or supervisor in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Previous food manufacturing experience is highly desired.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Must be comfortable enforcing policies and performance standards, dealing with conflict and resolving problems as they arise
  • Ability to synthesize data and information to make the best possible decision.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal, read, write) effectively in English, with groups or individuals, and give clear directions.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies
  • Must be proficient with basic computer functions and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems
  • Ability to perform intermediate math calculations.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a training course for acidified food production during the training/onboarding period.
  • Must have the ability to complete and maintain at least a Level 1 Qualification in all 3 operator positions in the assigned work area (Apple Dump, Bertocchi, and Red Fruit).
