School Social Worker
Location: Middletown, CT
Job Type: Fulltime, 8 Week Contract
Pay: $43/Hour
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to join our dynamic educational team in Middletown, CT. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the social and emotional well-being of students, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. Responsibilities:
Student Support and Counseling:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement strategies for student success.

Crisis Intervention:

  • Respond to crises and emergencies, offering immediate support and interventions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with school administration to develop and implement crisis response plans.

Case Management:

  • Conduct assessments to identify students in need of social and emotional support.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans as required.

Collaboration and Consultation:

  • Work closely with teachers, school administrators, and other support staff to create a collaborative approach to student success.
  • Provide consultation to parents on strategies for supporting their child's social and emotional development.

Advocacy:

  • Advocate for students' needs within the school system and in collaboration with external agencies.
  • Stay informed about community resources and refer students and families to appropriate services when necessary.

Prevention and Education:

  • Develop and implement programs to promote positive social skills, conflict resolution, and bullying prevention.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for students, parents, and staff on relevant topics.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions.
  • Provide regular reports to school administrators on the social and emotional climate of the school.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in Social Work with relevant licensure/certification in the state of Connecticut.
    • Previous experience working in an educational setting preferred.
    • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of local community resources and services.
