Responsibilities of the MDS Coordinator: 

• Oversee and facilitate the completion of resident assessments in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
• Establish assessment schedules and ensure that assessments are done in an accurate and timely manner
• Responsible for transmitting assessments to the State of Rhode Island, Department of Health
• Coordinates resident care plans in accordance to regulatory requirements, ensuring that resident care is delivered effectively
• Initiates Medicare coverage for newly qualified residents and sending denial letters when necessary
• Remains updated on changes in Medicare coverage and help determine documents necessary for reimbursement.

Requirements of the MDS Coordinator: 

• Licensed Practical Nurse in RI, required. Registered Nurse in RI, preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a health care setting; long-term care setting preferred.
• MDS/RAI experience is a must. 
• Must have a current/active CPR certification.
• Experience with Point Click Care/EMR.
• Knowledge of ICD 10 Coding preferred.
• Personal integrity and professionalism to work effectively with the Interdisciplinary Team, Patients, and Families.
