Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Researches and selects electronic components with performance, manufacturability, and product cost goals in mind.
  • Creation of component PCB footprints to IPC standards.
  • Designing schematic symbols for components used on circuit diagrams.
  • Creating 3-D component models.
  • Proactively managing component obsolescence.
  • Identification of alternative components based on accurate comparison of datasheet specifications, cost, and availability.
  • Ensuring new components are not duplicates of parts in the component data library.
  • Entering component parameter data into the component data library and material requirements planning (MRP) tool.
  • Generates and maintains internal and customer facing engineering documentation.
  • Prepares schematics and PCB layout.
  • Develops and executes hardware design verification test plans
  • Uses laboratory test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, oscilloscopes to ensure that products meet their electrical design goals.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Produces/maintains formal documentation for the manufacture of designed products.
  • Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure a smooth design handoff.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium preferred)
  • Knowledge of electronic components and ability to interpret datasheets
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, oscilloscopes
  • Preferred experience with RF component integration and/or antenna design/analysis
  • Preferred experience with tuning of RF circuitry using matching networks
  • Preferred experience developing embedded circuits from schematic capture thru critical layout (Altium preferred), BOM specification, hardware bring-up, prototyping, and eventual production launch.
  • Preferred solid broad-based knowledge of analog, digital and RF circuits
  • Preferred expertise in product lifecycle management, ERP, and document control.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering
  • Relevant internship experience or 1 – 3 years work in the electronics industry.
  • Experience with generation of electrical hardware design documentation

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
