Global Surgical and Medical Support Group Corp is Hiring a Critical Care Nurse Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

Opportunity Overview:

The U.S. Government (USG) employs a broad-reaching diplomacy, development, and defense approach to foster interagency efforts and help negate the drivers of conflict and extremism in Africa. The AOR consists of 53 African states, more than 800 ethnic groups, over 1,000 languages, vast natural resources, a land mass of 11.2 million square miles, and nearly 19,000 miles of coastland.

Operations are conducted in the region to enhance partner nation capacity, promote regional security and stability, dissuade conflict, and protect U.S. and coalition interests. This is a critical effort to build partner capacity to counter violent extremists and support other regional security partnerships. USG works to build operational capacity, strengthen regional security and capacity initiatives, implement effective communication strategies in support of strategic objectives, and eradicate Violent Extremist Organizations (VEOs).

The Warfighter Recovery Network (WRN) is an initiative built on a cooperative effort between U.S. and partner nations working in concert to create a robust personnel recovery (PR) and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) capability in Africa. The WRN includes a wide array of evacuation and medical capabilities that deliver injured and/or isolated personnel from Pointof-Injury (POI) to higher-level medical care. To achieve this, the US military combines efforts with contracted PR/CASEVAC services into a continent wide network capable of providing high quality care to injured or isolated personnel.

GSMSG is recruiting medical professionals to support the WRN in Africa. Specifically, GSMSG will operate two types of teams in multiple locations. The teams are Mobile Surgical Resuscitative Teams (MSRT) and Critical Care Evacuation Teams (CCET). Our team members will be based as complete MSRT or CCET teams at 5 possible sites in Africa co-located with US military forces. These MSRT and CCET teams will be able to deploy forward from fixed installations by ground, air, or maritime assets to respond to the medical needs of the US military or partner force personnel. Once a patient has been evacuated from a potential hot zone to an area further back, our CCET or MSRT teams will rendezvous with them at a remote airstrip or landing zone and either provide appropriate care at that site or airstrip or provide en route care as appropriate back to the fixed installation where further care can be rendered before the patient is then transported on to US military medical installations.

The standard time commitment will be a 60-day deployment in Africa.. However, individuals may sign up for longer periods if they maintain their state-side credentials.

Mobile Surgical Resuscitative Teams (MSRT):

MSRTs are comprised of a surgeon, anesthesiologist, Emergency Medicine physician, nurse practitioner/physician assistant, critical care nurse, and special operations medic and provide Damage Control Surgery (DCS), Damage Control Resuscitation (DCR), and enroute critical care evacuation services. MSRTs shall be based and operate primarily from fixed military installations but maintain the ability to operate on any tactical platform and provide DCR and DCS care on mobile/moving platforms when required. The MSRTs shall be highly mobile and able to relocate with 72 hour notice. The MSRT should also be able to provide DCS/DCR services at remote sites such as airstrips and landing zones. MSRTs shall be prepared and capable to operate as a split team for short periods of time to support operations.

Critical Care Evacuation Teams (CCET):

Services provided by the CCETs, comprised of an Emergency Medicine physician, CRNA, and critical care nurse, shall serve as a bridge between mobile and fixed medical facilities along a continuous enroute system of ever-increasing medical capability. CCETs shall be based and operate primarily from fixed military installations but maintain the ability to operate on any tactical platform operated by the US military and shall provide trauma/critical care, enroute DCR, lifesaving interventions, and critical care during pre-hospital evacuations of injured casualties during intra-theater and inter-theater (on a limited basis) patient movement. CCETs shall participate in the full spectrum of operations to move critically injured and/or ill patients to the next level of care.

MSRT or CCETs team members are not expected to serve as aircrew members nor interface with any aircraft systems or configure the interior of an aircraft to accept patients.

CCETs may originate with a patient from a nearby/co-located facility or may be transported from/ to forward locations to pick up patients for transport to higher levels of care. The CCET shall accompany the patient from handoff by the rescue squad or US military personnel to the transportation mode and destination facility as well as continue to monitor and intervene as required until the patient is handed off to the destination medical facility. CCETs shall provide rapid evacuation advance care utilizing dedicated assets to the most appropriate role of care and the capability to cross-level patients within the theater hospitals within the notification period. CCETs shall be responsible for all clinical decisions regarding critically ill patients under CCET care during patient movement.
