The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.


Description

The Director II, Strategic Consulting on the Global Brand and Communications, Enterprise Communications team will be aligned to Liberty Mutual’s Global Risk Solutions (GRS) business, and in partnership with the GRS Alignment team, will co-create and execute, and measure the strategic communications plan. The person in this role will require strong executive presence, an ability to package information clearly and concisely, and influence outcomes through partnerships with colleagues in the business and across Global Brand and Communications. The candidate will be responsible for leading a team that designs, delivers and continuously improves communication strategies and tactics for the company’s global commercial and specialty insurance operation to keep internal and external audiences informed and engaged on strategy, events, progress and priorities.

About the job:

  • Partners with GRS Alignment to help prioritize business and functional objectives into strategic communications plans. Also partners to determine appropriate social media engagement opportunities and to prepare impactful messaging for them.
  • This leader will co-create and execute the communication plan in alignment with GRS’ engagement strategy.
  • Determines and implements the most effective, efficient, and impactful methods and channels to achieve communication objectives.
  • Develops large scale communication campaigns, with guidance from the business, that are strategic and complex in nature such as organizational and cultural transformations, communications related to successes and opportunities.
  • Performs project management duties to include long-term and short-term planning, tracking deliverables, and interfacing with own team as well as working with other areas, internally, for execution.
  • Implements metrics to evaluate business effectiveness of communication plans.
  • Ensures projects are completed within desired budget, schedule and. adjusts plans based on feedback.
  • Leverages strong problem-solving skills to recommend communications solutions to open ended business challenges and influences outcomes.
  • Maintains coordinated calendar of client communications activity and reconciles with the enterprise-wide communications calendars and plans as well as those for the business.
  • Partners with aligned leaders to ensure they are equipped with the proper tools to communicate the strategy effectively to target audience to accomplish overall communications objectives.
  • May work with aligned executives to build their executive brand through communications strategies.
  • Ensures team members’ performance objectives and measures are aligned to both department and GRS objectives.
  • Collaborates and ensures integration across the Global Brand and Communications function on all internal and external communications, e.g. external social media, speaking engagements, and other components of the communications strategy.
  • Flexible style and solid EQ with strong executive presence, willingness to challenge the status quo and strong organizational skills with ability to keep consistently prioritizing across the team with GRS Alignment.
  • An integrated and strategic mindset with strong business acumen are critical for this role.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor`s degree, preferably in Communications or related field.
  • Master`s degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years of relevant and progressively more responsible communications experience with 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional skill and proven track record of highly developed oral and written communication skills; including very strong presentation and collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional program management skills and the ability to organize, plan, execute enterprise communication strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management concepts, practices and techniques and the ability to promote a team environment.
  • Strong change leadership who is customer focused and translates vision into actionable deliverables.
