CAD Designer - American Control Electronics
JOB PURPOSE Uses CAD equipment to provide support to Engineers by creating printed circuit board layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches & diagrams. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacture. JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
Create mechanical drawings and printed circuit board layouts
Maintain information regarding changes to database
Make some decisions (according to his/her level of expertise/experience) and consult engineers and supervisors for others
Use computer assisted design/drafting (SolidWorks CAD) equipment and software to develop designs
Create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly drawings)
Creates and maintains CAD component libraries
Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of products.
Keep informed on drafting and engineering standards
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
Perform other duties as assigned by engineering supervisor
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.) Education/Licensure/Credentials
Required: Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting, and/or equivalent experience and training
Experience Required: None Preferred: Two years’ experience in computer aided drafting role Special Knowledge/Skills
Required: Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with Engineering terminology. Mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations. Familiarity printed circuit board design and manufacturing of electronics devices and assemblies.. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions and correspondence. Familiarity with fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Familiarity with one or all of SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or Fusion 360 software packages. Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Preferred: Certified in reading electronic schematics. High level of experience with PADS PCB electronic board design software and SolidWorks. Familiarity with CAD/CAM equipment and relationship of CAD to CAM.
