Location: Remote

Annual Compensation- $105,000 to $125,000 DOE

Overview

The Power BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting reporting and dashboard solutions for our enterprise. This includes capturing business-case and technical requirements to design and develop data models, reports, and dashboards that are intuitive and enable actionable decisions for the end-user. This position will work directly with sourcing database queries, schemas, and tables across multiple data sources, including patient accounting systems, clinical systems, and a variety of data warehouses. The Power BI Developer will report to the Director of Clinical Informatics.



Summary / Responsibilities:
  • Study, analyze, and understand business requirements from end-users, and transfer that knowledge to design and develop actionable, user-friendly, and visually appealing reports and dashboards within the Power BI platform.
  • Monitor daily ETL results to ensure source data is loaded and refreshed in Power BI in an accurate and timely manner. Troubleshoot and resolve issues timely and as necessary.
  • Collaborate with SQL and Data Management team to source new data, develop new tables and views, etc. to augment, refine, or create new Power BI data models for the purpose of providing the end-user with more actionable analytics and insights.
  • Refine and standardize existing architecture, data models, and measures to mimic Power BI community best practices.
  • Comprehensively document data models, algorithms, metrics, measures, formulas, refresh schedules, etc. in a format that is clear and shareable.
  • Routinely test data for accuracy to ensure reporting integrity. Research and correct data irregularities and issues as necessary.
  • Stay current and knowledgeable on all Power BI updates and release notes to take advantage of new features and capabilities.
  • Create and manage report and dashboard subscriptions within Power BI.
  • Work within the team to perform deep dive analyses of billing, denial, volume, revenue, etc. trends and issue root causes on an ad hoc basis.
  • Manage data governance activities to ensure that data is presented consistently across all business units of the organization.
  • This position is remote with some travel that may be required (up to 5%).
Qualifications:
Education & Industry Experience
  • 5 years working in a business intelligence (BI) related position. Healthcare data experience is preferred, but not required.
  • 3 years using Power BI to design, publish, schedule, optimize, and support analytic solutions.
  • Strong experience developing efficient data models in Power BI.
  • Proficient with coding complex DAX measures/queries.
Skills
  • Advanced understanding and ability to contribute to all phases of the BI development life cycle.
  • Advanced experience with sourcing datasets from SQL into Power BI and a proficient understanding of data structures and relational schemas.
  • Advanced experience with coding complex DAX measures and queries to develop dynamic tables and visuals.
  • Advanced experience with navigating and managing Power BI architecture, gateway connectivity, and premium capacities.
  • Advanced experience developing reports and dashboards that are actionable, user-friendly, and visually appealing.
  • Ability to complete critical tasks with minimal supervision, handle confidential information appropriately, and carry out goals/objectives on time with multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment, while overcoming obstacles in a proactive manner.
  • Able to implement detailed row level security on data and understand application security layer models in Power BI.
  • Exceptional critical thinking ability and attention to detail, including thorough auditing of data for accuracy and integrity.
  • Experience with implementing incremental refreshes.
  • Strong quantitative/analytical, innovating, problem solving, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to handle ambiguous problems and suggest practical ways to solve them.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Power BI Certification is a plus.
