What does it mean to be an Infrastructure Administrator II at GLS?

As an Infrastructure Admin II, you will manage and maintain server systems, network infrastructure, and functions at the local, datacenter, and cloud levels. You will also maintain monitoring systems and Access (IAM) to cloud-based infrastructure and resources. In this position, you would report directly to the VP of IT Infrastructure.

How will you drive value within the organization as an Infrastructure Administrator II?

  • Infrastructure Management:
  • Monitor, manage, and maintain all system and cloud operations infrastructure with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Support and manage LAN/WAN equipment including firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Build, decommission, and set up servers, cloud devices, and network infrastructure.
  • System and Application Management:
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Manage systems, utilities, and software to monitor performance and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Manage and verify backups for infrastructure, data centers, and cloud operations, including DR testing.
  • High Availability and Support:
  • Ensure system availability (cloud and on-premises) to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues at a Tier 3 level.
  • User Support and Security:
  • Administer Office 365 and Exchange Online, including licensing, mail flow, mailbox compliance, and security features (spam protection, DLP, phishing, email encryption).
  • Manage Active Directory and Azure Active Directory, including user setup, permissions, security groups, and role assignments.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Offer instruction on how to maintain systems and devices.
  • Recommend and implement solutions for system and application lifecycle management (including DevOps).
What should you already know to be successful as an Infrastructure Administrator II?
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Systems Administrator/Engineer
  • Proven experience in systems administration, including:
  • Azure or AWS cloud administration
  • Office 365 administration
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2012 R2, 2016, and 2019)
  • Proficiency in Linux administration (Ubuntu and Red Hat)
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (Hyper-V, Azure, VMware)
  • Experience with monitoring and automation tools (ConnectWise, Azure Automation, etc.) (Preferred)
  • Expert-level scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (OSI model, TCP/IP, Azure Networking)
  • Certifications:
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-900 and AZ-104) (Preferred)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
  • Linux Administration certification (or similar) (Preferred)
Employment Requirements:
  • Pre-employment background screen required
  • Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Talk and hear to exchange accurate information, have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, and kneel to install computer equipment
  • The position may require minimal travel of up to 10%
  • This is an exempt-level position whereby business needs will dictate the exact work schedule, which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm
