Position Summary: The LPN School Nurse Assistant at Belmont Charter Network's School Health Services program operates in accordance with Pennsylvania School Code, Belmont Charter Network policies, and PA Department of Health regulations. Their role, guided by mandated programs and approved Modified programs, aims to maintain or enhance students' health for optimal educational experiences. Responsibilities include assessing and caring for student illness and injuries, administering approved medications, conducting daily state-mandated health screenings, providing clinical services, and coordinating primary care delivery through the School-Based Health Center (SBHC). Additionally, the LPN School Nurse Assistant collaborates with parents to track students' annual well-child care, schedules SBHC for preventive care, and ensures updated health records. Reporting to both the Certified School Nurse and the school principal or designee, they play a crucial role in promoting overall student health. This is an 11 month role. Core Responsibilities:
Immediate Care Triage and First Aid:
Triage students' immediate needs in the nurse's office, connecting to SBHC for urgent or primary care with parent consent.
Provide first aid for illness or injury, documenting all efforts under CSN guidance.
Clinical Assessments and Health Services:
Perform clinical assessments directed by CSN and school physician (SBHC).
Coordinate mandated screenings daily, referring to SBHC for follow-up with parent consent.
Coordinate immunizations with SBHC and connect parents to family social services for addressing social determinants of health.
Schedule students behind in well-child care with SBHC in collaboration with parents, following State mandates for physicals and dental check-ups.
SBHC Enrollment and Compliance:
Encourage and promote enrollment in SBHC for continuous care and school health compliance.
Participate in SBHC recruitment, advisory, and strategy events as requested.
Request and track SBHC parent consents for care, well-child documentation, and medication administration.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED
Current PA license as Practical Nurse, diploma earned from an accredited institution.
At minimum one (1) year pediatrics experience post-certification.
School nursing experience a plus.
Computer competency/proficiency in MS Office programs
Familiarity with data entry systems
Exemplary work habits, organizational skills and ability to prioritize
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work independently to complete responsibilities and also work as a team
Strong interpersonal, communicationand customer service skills
Unconditional ability to maintain patient confidentiality
