Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Collector to join our team. As a Medical Collector, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate collection of medical payments from patients and insurance companies. This is a vital role in our organization, as it directly impacts our financial success and the overall satisfaction of our patients.
Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records, coding, and billing information to identify outstanding balances
- Contact patients and insurance companies to follow up on unpaid claims or outstanding balances
- Utilize medical office systems to track and manage collections activities
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Process appeals and denials from insurance companies
- Collaborate with medical billing team to resolve any billing discrepancies or issues
- Stay up-to-date with changes in medical coding (ICD-10) and billing regulations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in medical collection or related field
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems
- Proficient in using medical office systems for collections activities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
