GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Modeling Engineer in the Carlisle, PA area.

Position Overview:

The Senior Modeling Engineer will be essential for improving our engineering abilities through skills in finite element analysis (FEA), digital image correlation (DIC), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). This position needs a strong knowledge of material properties, structural evaluation, and fluid dynamics to help with the creation of high-performance building materials and systems. This position is part of an innovation team and reports to the data science and digital innovation manager on a day to day basis.

Responsibilities:
  • FEA Modeling: Develop and implement advanced finite element models to simulate material behavior and structural performance under various conditions.
  • DIC Analysis: Utilize digital image correlation techniques to measure and analyze the strain and deformation of materials and structures during testing.
  • CFD Simulations: Conduct computational fluid dynamics simulations to understand fluid flow behavior in and around building materials and systems.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to integrate modeling insights into practical applications. Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of the latest developments in modeling technologies and methodologies. Propose and lead R&D projects to explore new materials, processes, or technologies that could benefit Construction Materials Industry.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations that communicate complex modeling results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6-7 years of experience in engineering modeling, with a strong emphasis on FEA, DIC, and CFD. Experience in modeling non-homogenous polymer materials is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in modeling software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, COMSOL Multiphysics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of material science and engineering principles. Ability to simulate various ASTM, FM, UL test standards using modeling techniques.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-experts.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Leadership experience or potential is highly desirable.
  • Advocate and promote data informed innovation through presentations, mentoring and project communication.
