Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and preparation of written documents for projects in all phases of the design process including, but not limited to:
- General conditions
- Bidding and negotiation documents
- General requirements specifications
- Technical specifications
- Writing contracts and/or agreements is a bonus
- Contributes to the maintenance and development of GLMV’s Master Specifications database
- Coordinate the project specifications with the division’s specifications.
- Schedule and manage specification writing workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Assist divisions with the research, evaluation, and selection of building products/systems, material applications, and methods of construction.
- Reviews drawings and specification deliverables for accuracy and compliance with the project’s technical requirements.
- Reviews sustainable design intent and requirements, including LEED scorecards and USGBC Guiding Principles and provides knowledge input on material product selection for sustainable certification.
- Communicate with clients and design team members during various stages of the project development for general conditions and specifications.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and maintain relationships with product manufacturers and industry experts.
- Having the knowledge and ability to provide specifications for Historic Preservation Projects would be a benefit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understand building technology and how to coordinate specifications with drawings.
- Experienced in all phases and aspects of a project including preparing construction documentation.
- Proficiency in MasterSpec/Masterworks and Microsoft Office. Revit/BIM 360 is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work with multiple different architectural divisions.
- Knowledge of project bidding and contract procedures.
Required Experience and Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the design and construction industry.
- Ability to interpret and communicate requirements for material, products, and workmanship.
- Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and LEED certifications are preferred but not required.
