Glenwood Community School District is Hiring an Anticipated- Social Emotional Liaison (SEL) Near Glenwood, IA

The Glenwood Community School District is currently accepting applications for an Anticipated- Social Emotional Liaison (SEL) at Northeast Elementary for the 2024-2025 School Year. 

 The SEL Liaison is a full-time position in each of Glenwood’s four schools: Northeast Elementary (PreK-2), West Elementary (3-5), Glenwood Middle School (6-8) and Glenwood High School (9-12). 

Roles:

The SEL Liaison will perform these essential roles and functions within our system of multi-tiered support:

  1. Tier I: Classroom and teacher-based consultation and coaching support; participate in building PBIS implementation and leadership work.

  2. Tier 2: Small Group student support; organization and facilitation of Teacher Assistance Team

  3. Tier 3: Individualized consultation and support for students, including risk assessment and crisis intervention

  4. System Level Work: Collaborate with administrators, counselors, AEA personnel, and others to collect and analyze SEL screening data and respond to data with appropriate actions

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the work of the building PBIS/CKH team along with Rachel’s Challenge activities

  • Lead and host Ramily Matters events--up to 8 per year

  • Lead TAT meetings when behavior is the area of concern and manage the resulting i-plan/intervention plans.

  • Under general supervision, coordinate social-emotional learning (SEL) supports for students, as well as SEL professional development for staff.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, community members and state organizations in written and oral presentation.

  • Assist site staff with the identification of students who need additional (moderate/Tier 2 or intensive/Tier 3) SEL support.

  • Ability to provide Tier 2 and/or Tir 3 SEL interventions directly or through consultation to other educators and support staff.

  • Participate in joint planning and case management with community agencies that support students’ SEL abilities.

  • Conduct staff and community education on SEL.

  • Make home visits as necessary.

  • Maintain professional practice and development, staying current with recent approaches to improving SEL for students, staff, and families.

  • Gather and track data on student progress.

  • Work independently, with minimal supervision and guidance

Requirements:

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain either a valid school counselor license or school social worker license, or B.A./B.S. in mental health, education, or a related field.

  • Must be able to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control, and confidence

  • Strong interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms

  • Ability to develop and compile a variety of records and reports

  • Experience with spreadsheets and assessing data
