Job Listing and Description

PURPOSE
The Church Administrator conducts the day-to-day administrative operations of the church. The purpose of this job is to manage and support the church’s administration and social media presence. S/he supports the work and overall vision of the Senior Minister and the church’s programs. S/he works collaboratively with the Director of Operations, Music Director, Business
Administrator, and Custodian and the church’s lay leadership via its Congregational Meetings,
Leadership Council, committees, and ministries.

HOURS: 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

SALARY: competitive, commensurate with experience; includes health benefits

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

SUPERVISES: Office volunteers

COMPETENCIES
Interpersonal Skills: Relates well to all kinds of people, builds effective relationships. Serves with enthusiasm.

Management Skills: Manages projects and volunteers well. Follows up on tasks and projects to meet tight and shifting deadlines.

Administrative Skills: A high level of administrative capacity; a self-starter with the ability to prioritize requests, multi-task, manage multiple projects, and direct workflow. Mastery of
Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and customer relationship management (CRM) software, such as Constant Contact.

Database Experience: Experience using, managing, and championing database systems; preferably experience with ACS.

Highly Collaborative: Shows a willingness to collaborate and to develop partnerships.

Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Enthusiastically and patiently provides a welcoming atmosphere to all who enter or who contact the church offices.

Ensures the full administration of the church and collaborates strategizing for improvements and efficiency.

Designs, prints, and distributes orders of worship, weekly electronic communication, monthly newsletters, and other print and electronic media.

Manages and innovates the church’s electronic media presence (website, Facebook, and other platforms).

Maintains, schedules, and coordinates the church calendar including recurring and one-time bookings, church functions and events sponsored by outside groups.

Submits appropriate forms for sacramental and ritual acts (baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals) as required and ensures clergy availability. Ensures custodial and/or hosting coverage for funerals, weddings, and meetings.

Maintains church databases including complete and current information on members and non- members, committee member rosters, records of baptisms, funerals, and weddings.

Manages the main office and administrative areas of the church.

Other duties as assigned.

PREREQUISITES
High functioning, personable, and with a non-anxious work style.

4 years’ experience in a similar role within a church, non-profit organization, or small business with a proven track record.

Desire to work in a progressive church environment and alignment with the Glenview Community
Church’s ethical and social policies.

High School diploma or equivalent. College-level education or higher is an advantage.
