In partnership with the Patient Care Services Leadership Team, the Clinical Nurse Educator provides expertise in nursing practice and professional development in assigned service line departments. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Practice and Professional Development, this position functions as Educator, Facilitator, and Change Agent. This role supports the development of the Nursing Staff (Registered Nurses and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel) and fosters empowerment through knowledge in order to achieve excellence in evidence-based nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator develops, implements, and evaluates education programs and resources specific to: initial and on-going competency assessment, professional development, and continuing education. In partnership with the Senior Informatics Nurse Specialist, this role engages End-User Nurses in the on-going development and optimization of the electronic medical record. This position participates in on-going quality improvement initiatives that impact assigned service line departments. The Clinical Nurse Educator serves as a member of the Nursing Leadership Council as well as other nursing decision-making forums.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
BSN required. MSN preferred (degree to be completed within 4 years of accepting position).
3 years of clinical experience required, preferably in an acute care setting.
3 years of classroom/clinical teaching experience.
Demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by previous experience Clinical Nurse Preceptor/Educator
Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:
Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
BLS & ACLS certification required.
BLS Instructor (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).
ANCC Board Certification in Nursing Professional Development or NLN Certified Nurse Educator.
Board Certification in assigned service line specialty preferred.
