Position Summary:

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the cleaning, delivery and storing of linens and other laundry to ensure that laundry services are delivered in accordance with expectations established by the Glenridge on Palmer Ranch (GPR). The Laundry Attendant performs their duties according to established regulatory and departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  • Coordinates daily laundry services with housekeeping services, dining services and the services of the healthcare areas.
  • Maintains assigned work area in a clean, safe, sanitary, and attractive manner.
  • Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Assures that established Universal Precautions are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
  • Collects and sorts soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and places in appropriate containers or assigned areas.
  • Separates those items that require special stain removal or treatment.
  • Washes soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., in accordance with established procedures.
  • Folds, counts, stacks, hangs, and distributes clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., to Members.
  • During emergency conditions, assures that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., are distributed to designated areas as instructed.
  • Discards waste or trash into proper containers and relines trash receptacles with plastic liners.
  • Reports all hazardous conditions or equipment to the Manager.
  • Cleans and properly stores laundry equipment at the end of the shift.
  • Keeps Manager informed of supply needs.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the Manager as soon as possible.
  • Assures that the assigned supply of linen is maintained in healthcare area closets. Turns in all found articles to the Manager.
  • May perform duties of Housekeeper during lulls, as directed by the Manager.
  • Uses good judgment in determining needs of the company and in maintaining information delivery in conformance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
  • Keeps current on all changes in their area of responsibility, particularly regulatory changes as they relate to CCRCs, skilled nursing, assisted living and other applicable clinical services as assigned.
  • Uses good judgment in determining the needs of Members and working with the different departments and in maintaining delivery of those needs in accordance with recognized standards; and is expected to understand and follow all regulatory and facility policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of Members’ PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records information as well.
  • Other various duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least an 8th grade education. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Six (6) months experience in a healthcare or hospitality setting desirable.
  • Must be able to read and understand printed instructions for the use of chemicals and cleaning agents.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be empathetic, enthusiastic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
  • Must be well organized and can work with limited direction, take initiative, and can plan and carry out responsibilities, organizing own schedule and duties to complete responsibilities.
